Brighton!

Brighton is very interesting.  It’s hilly and there is a beach nearby and it‘s not sand, but rocks that covers it. All the houses look the same--three stories high and connected together. The question is then, how would you find your own house in all those confusing curvy streets? Weather is very peculiar because one day it is a warm and sunny, and the next it is pouring rain. Here are some fascinating things that happened to me in Brighton.
After school I can go and play in Preston Park because it is really close by and I usually ride my scooter there. It has many cool new things there, for instance there are two wooden poles and a cable connecting them and there is a platform on one end and on the cable there is a sort of swing that you get on and the downhill of the park takes you flying down the cable!

There are these roads called “the Lanes” and they have lots of little cafes and neat stores you can pop into when you are cold or when you want to get something. It is almost impossible to get anywhere because the Lanes are very crowded! There is this one café that is called Café Delíce and my mom, dad and I go there a lot. It’s very cozy and nice. The people in there are French. They are really nice and there’s always calm music playing and they now know what I get every time we go (hot chocolate and a brownie, mostly) because we go there a lot! Another thing that we like is the library, where I check out many books, which has a huge children’s area for movies and CDs and a play area for little babies.
Right now there is a festival going on and it is called The Brighton Fringe Festival. It’s on all month and my mom, my dad and I go there a lot. One time we went in this trailer that had a mirror and that mirror looked like a kaleidoscope so when the film played, it looked like there were headless monsters and all that cool stuff.
There’s all these performances going on and it’s really fun to watch them. There were these acrobats who used my scooter and did a performance with it!
There was also this Germen guy (Klaus) who was very funny and did loads of funny tricks.
It is very exciting to watch these shows and I love going to New Road (which is were some of the performances were held (New Road is near the Lanes. ))

These quirky experiences were very breathtaking and funny and cozy and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, aannddd,,,, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….. ffuunn!!!!!!!!!!!!

School!!!!!

I am now in Brighton, England and I am going to a school called Stanford Junior School. It is an old Victorian building and it looks a little like Hogwarts in Harry Potter.

The school has many little passageways and nooks and crannies. It’s about as big and magical as Hogwarts. There is this one trick with two doors where if you open and close a door the other one will do the same at the exact same time. I was astounded when someone showed that to me. I looked behind the door, thinking that someone was hiding behind it, but no one was there!

We have to wear uniforms every day, so you don’t have to spend an hour deciding what to wear! It’s a white or green shirt, a darkish green sweater, black or grey pants or skirt, white socks and black shoes. At first I was excited but now I’m practically bored to death, having to wear the same clothes every day!

I have some after school classes, knitting, football (soccer), and gymnastics. In knitting it is very informal, she serves us tea and cookies and we chat while we knit. In soccer there are a lot of boys and only five or so girls since soccer isn’t much of a girls sport here. Our coach has us do so many drills we barely have enough strength to kick the ball!  Finally, in gymnastics we do cart wheels and vaults and all of that sort.

Well when it comes to schools that I have gone to, I certainly have been a bird girl! First, Grout, the Eagles, then Las Gaviotas, the Seagulls and now, Stanford, the Swans. Yaaaaay!
